The answer is in understanding what an architect does and how this brings value to you as a client through creativity and experience.Throughout the course of this blog, we provide you with all the information needed to answer the question of ‘why is an architect important?’
Highly skilled Professionals
The architect is one of only a few professions with a protected title. The use of the title ‘architect’ is protected by law (Architects Act 1997) and so only those who have undergone the rigorous training and are fully qualified can use the term. Architects in the UK must be registered with the Architects Registration Board (ARB) to use the title. You can check the ARB’s website for registered Architects.
Architects may also be registered with the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) and information can be found on their website to check credentials.
Architects must abide by the Professional Code of Conduct to ensure the integrity of the profession is upheld and the general public are provided with a standard expected of all those who use the title.
Training and Education
Our training in the UK consists of two university degrees (undergraduate and post-graduate) known as RIBA Part 1 and RIBA Part 2 with a year’s placement between. This is followed by further experience in practice (at least one more year) followed by a final degree in professional practice known as RIBA Part 3. Only once all three parts have been passed can one apply to the Architects Registration Board and call themselves an Architect.
As a result of the rigorous study and experience required to become an architect, we develop a set of technical skills which enable creative and practical thinking. So when you are considering the question ‘why use an architect for your project?’ is it important to bear in mind the fact that they are expertly trained and highly skilled professionals who will be able to positively impact any projects they are involved in.

The length of training and shaping of those skills learned into successful projects is commensurate to why Architects bring a set of expertise to a project that adds value. At Z group we cover all stages of work from inception through to completion in what is known as ‘stages of work’. This covers the initial stages of establishing a brief or producing a feasibility study followed by developing that brief further and gaining the necessary planning permissions. We can then develop this through detailed construction design and specification and on to guiding the project on-site through contract administration and management. We can recommend the integration of technology and advising on fixtures and fittings as well as pulling the consultant team together through our previous experiences and understanding of the various statutory and regulatory processes. So whether you need to utilise the services of an architect for home design, or anything else we will be able to provide you with high-quality solutions each and every time.
